Nevertheless, we aren’t here to lecture you on how much fruit and veg you should be eating. Cruciferous vegetables are filled with glucosinolates which help regulate cell pathways and genes. They are also a rich source of vitamins, mineral and fibre. Cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and radish.
Legumes which are things such as lentils, kidney beans, green beans and peanuts, offer plenty of fibre, iron and protein. Oh and we know, a peanut isn’t technically a nut.
They may be high in fat, but don’t let that put you off. Nuts and seeds contain nutrients such as magnesium and vitamin E. They’re also great as a healthy snack. Some good options are almonds, Brazil nuts, chia seeds and walnuts.
Every person needs protein, but the quantity will differ based on your age, weight and sex. Protein helps maintain your muscle mass and provides amino acids and other nutrients. Varying your protein sources is the best way to consume a wider variety of nutrients. Some protein options include salmon, chicken, eggs, tofu and beef.
